[Class 40 (iii).] In an exploring system, a luminous beam is moved over a plurality of groups M1, M2 of fixed mirrors or lenses, which reflect or refract the beam in sensibly parallel adjacent surfaces when the elements 1 .. 6 of the groups are successively struck by the beam. The invention permits indefinite increase of the fineness of exploration without increasing the moving apparatus T giving the initial movement to the beam. The fineness of exploration is proportional to the product of the number of reflecting or refracting elements in the moving apparatus and the numbers of elements in the respective fixed groups. At the transmitter spot lighting is used, and at the receiver the lamp S is modulated by the signals, and the moving reflecting apparatus T is driven by a synchronized motor.
