[Class 100 (iv).] Accenting and like arrangements ; types. -A typewriter or like machine is provided with types for printing lower-case letters, and a type for printing simultaneously with a letter a conventional sign indicating that the letter is to be read as a capital. The sign preferably consists of a crown or star placed above the letter, and more than' one sign may be employed. In the arrangement shown: in the Figure, a sign-type 4 is carried by a yielding lever 5, and is moved into a position slightly removed from the platen 1 by means of a key. The letter-type 2 is carried by a lever 3 and has a projection 7 for striking the sign-type. Types for printing an accent. simultaneously with a letter may also be provided.
