Abstract

To consolidate dusty refuse matter so that it can be used as a building material or as a substitute for gravel, pebbles, or blast-furnace slag, the matter is sintered on a sintering-pan or an endless-band sintering apparatus by the heat of its own combustion, air being forced through the mass under suction or pressure. The dust treated may be obtained by dressing untreated refuse or the residue from burning refuse, or may be flue dust obtained in burning refuse. It should contain an adequate amount of combustible matter, and may be mixed with some coarser residues from the combustion of refuse.ALSO:To consolidate dusty refuse matter so that it can be used as a building material or as a substitute for gravel, pebbles or blast-furnace slag, the matter is sintered on a sintering-pan or an endless-band sintering apparatus by the heat of its own combustion, air being forced through the mass under suction or pressure. The dust treated may be obtained by dressing untreated refuse or the residue from burning refuse, or may be flue dust obtained in burning refuse. It should contain an adequate amount of combustible matter, and may be mixed with some coarser residues from the combustion of refuse.
