[Class 37.] Apparatus for indicating directly the height of aircraft comprises an open oscillatory circuit A and, loosely coupled therewith, a fixed frequency selfexcited oscillator B tuned so that they may be considered in resonance at an infinite altitude. A current meter M in the open oscillatory c i r c u i t can therefore be calibrated directly in metres &c., to show ascending or descending positions of the aircraft, the deflection occurring in the same sense as the altitude variation. A dynatron or other damping resistance may be connected in the open circuit A.
