Abstract

372,184. Safety razors. JULLIARD, M. E., 28, Avenue Victor Emmanuel III, Paris. Aug. 1, 1931, No. 22006. Convention date, Aug. 11, 1930. [Class 30.] The hollow handle 3 of a safety razor houses a reserve of spare blades in the form of a continuous strip 1 which is pushed through a water-tight channel 4 into a tightly fitting channel between the longitudinally curved fixed jaws 6, 7 of a shaving head 5. The strip feeding means comprise an external milled wheel 13 which rotates a toothed wheel 12 engaging a row of perforations in the side of the strip. The strip, which may have a rustpreventing coating, is wound on a drum 2, the used part 14 projecting from the head, being broken away. The handle 3 is closed by a cover of polished metal forming a mirror, or a mirror may be attached to the cover. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the following subject-matter. The strip 1, more than one of which may be used, may, instead of being sharpened over its entire length, have sharpened parts spaced by unsharpened ones formed with breaking lines to facilitate breaking away the used part. The strip may be single or double edged and sharpening means may be provided. When a double edged strip is used it is provided with central perforations engaged by locating members in the razor head, the clamping jaws of which are then separable. A modification is shown in Fig. 5 (Cancelled), wherein the strip is formed of a series of separate blades 15 joined by celluloid or other flexible strips 16, Fig. 6 (Cancelled), the blades being folded over on each other and stacked in the handle 18 which has a spring-clipped lid 19. The shaving head 20 is pivotable into alignment with the feeding channel. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
