[Class 46.] A machine for mashing fruit comprises a drum having a perforated lower portion 7 and a pivoted upper portion 4 retained in position by latches 6, a feeding hopper 15 at one end and a discharge shoot 16 arranged beneath the lower portion 7. A shaft 9 carrying helical presser blades 14 is rotated by hand-operated step-up gearing. The helical blades pulp and move the material from the feed end to the other end, pressing it on its way through the screen 7 into the discharge shoot 16. Stones, cores, &c. are prevented from revolving at the discharge end of the drum by a wall 18 which guides them to the shoot 17.
