Abstract
371,043. Animal traps. WEBBER, T., Ansty Farm, Ansty, Cuckfield, Sussex. Aug. 22, 1931, No. 31965/30. [Class 5 (i).] In an automatic rat and vermin trap of the type comprising a baited lure chamber, a trip lever operated by the depression of a platform to allow the falling of a shutter, and a resetting lever operated by the weight of the vermin during its passage towards a retaining chamber, the pivoted shutter, the weight of which is almost completely counterbalanced, is so shaped as to close three open sides of the lure chamber. A three-sided shutter a pivoted at m is almost counterbalanced by levers i, n ; the lever i coacts with a trip lever t operated by a lever o connected to a trip plate b in the lure chamber c, above which plate are located a bait receptacle and hook. The vermin passes from the lure chamber c, through a non-return door d, compartment e and opening f into a passage h containing the resetting lever i depression of which by the weight of the vermin causes the lever i to re-engage with the trip lever t so resetting the trap. The vermin then passes into a detachable retaining chamber having a non- return door and a sliding door, the latter serving for removal of the trapped vermin. The engaging member of the trip lever may be adjustable, and the lever n may be dispensed with, the weight of the lever i being increased to compensate.
