Abstract
778,592. Animal traps. McKENDRICK, M. K. Jan. 18, 1956 [Feb. 4, 1955], No. 1765/56. Class 5(1). A mole trap in the form of an open-ended tube 1 to be inserted in or placed at the entrance of a mole run, comprises at one end a hinged trap door 2 and at the other a -member 5 which serves to prevent the escape of the trapped mole from that end of the tube. The member 5 is integral with a rod 6 slidable in eyelets 7 attached to the top of the tube and formed at the end away from the member 5 with a catch 8 which holds the trap door in its " set " position. As the mole, according to its customary habit, pushes soil into the tube in an effort to close the opening made to its burrow, it displaces the member 5, whereupon the trap door 2 is released from its " set " position. The member 5 may be formed so as to constitute a bait holder and if the mole is attracted by the bait, the trap operates as described above. The end of the tube away from the trap door 2 may be closed by a lid 11.
