Abstract
369,428. Pneumatic tyres. SAUDOU, J. A. RICHARD-, St.-Martin-la-Plaine, Loire, France. April 14, 1931, No. 11053. [Class 144 (ii).] Relates to antiskid bands for pneumatic tyres of the kind comprising an endless band of flexible material, such as rubber, provided with raised portions and studs and held in position by rapidly attachable and detachable members. According to the invention, the raised portions b, b<1> of the band a are of triangular shape and are arranged on opposite sides of the centre line of the band with their apices pointing towards but not crossing the centre line, the studs c being confined to the portions b, b<1>, and preferably being arranged in lines which in contact with the ground are oblique to the direction of travel of the band. The band, as shown, is held to a spoked wheel by straps e, passing round the tyre rim, and buckles f, but in the case of disc wheels is held by cords, carried in beads on the edges of the band, or by wires which pass alternately through eyes and over hooks on the edges and are secured at their ends by wire strainers.
