Abstract
369,047. Ventilating enclosures. RICHTER, A., 7, VerlÒngerte Kolonlestrasse, Reinickendorf, Berlin. April 28, 1931, No. 12567. Convention date, May 28, 1930. [Class 137.] In ventilating apparatus for rooms or refrigerating chambers, the heat exchange device through which the air is passed alternately in opposite directions is constructed of thin light metal of good conductivity and is divided in the direction of flow into a plurality of zones to avoid heat conduction and the flow of deposited moisture. The heat exchange device b consists of an aluminium strip coiled spirally about a shaft c, distance-pieces d between the windings forming radial partitions. The device is divided axially into a number of zones by incisions f. In one method of ventilating an enclosure, two heat exchange devices are used and by means of a fan v<3> and dampers kl, k2, one device is used for the admission of fresh air and the other as the outlet. A movement of the dampers effects a reversal of the air current at short intervals. In a modification each heat exchange device is provided with a fan, the direction of rotation of the fans being simultaneously reversed at intervals. In a further modification a single rotatable heat exchange device is used and is divided into two zones z<1>, z<2> by means of stationary struts t<1>, t<2> at the ends of the device. One zone is used continuously as the inlet and the other as the outlet, the device being rotated about the centre shaft so that individual compartments of the device pass alternately into the two zones.
