Abstract

368,593. Boots &c. ALLEN, F. T., CASWELL, H. W., and ALLEN & CASWELL, Ltd., Stamford Road, Kettering, May 13, 1931, No. 14141. [Class 17 (ii).] To protect the front of the foot from injury due to falling heavy objects, the toecase b of a boot, particularly for wear by iron and steel workers, is formed with side extensions which extend approximately to the ball of the foot e on the one side of the boot, and beyond the ball of the foot to the point f on the other side. The toecase is made of leather, textile fabric, &c., and, in one example, is composed of several layers of scrim or other suitable fabric of relatively open mesh impregnated with and cemented together by a cellulose preparation which, on drying, renders the toe-puff extremely rigid.
