[Class 142 (iii).] Bobbins, pins, tubes and the like are automatically transferred from a magazine to the loom shuttle by mechanism that is set in operation only as a result of simultaneous movement of a shuttle actuated member and the weft feeler mechanism. A casting A, Fig. 1, pivotally mounted on a stud a on the lay or the shuttle box, is connected by an adjustable link a4 to the crank arm a<5> of a lever that is pivoted on an upright stud a<6> and is formed with a cam portion a<7> that projects into the shuttle box. When a shuttle enters the box it engages the cam portion a<7> and imparts a turning movement to the plate A thereby bringing a notch as thereon into position to be engaged by the chisel-shaped edge c, Fig. 6, of a member associated with the weft feeler and transfer mechanism, the movement of the plate A being limited by a fixed stud a<2>. A shaft D mounted in the magazine frame carries the usual transfer hammer G and an arm c<2>, the latter providing pivotal support for the two-armed lever C, one arm of which is kept in contact with an arm h<9>, on the weft feeler rod h<7>, by means of a spring h<10>. A slidably mounted weft engaging member H, held in a forward position by a spring h, is arranged on weft exhaustion to engage an arm h<1> of a lever, pivoted at h2, and cause the other end h<3> to press a finger h<4> into engagement with the weft hammer whereupon the rod h<7> is rocked. The movement of the rod h<7> causes the member C to pivot about the stud c<1> thereby bringing its edge c into a position in which it will engage the plate A, if such has been moved by a correctly positioned shuttle, and operate the transfer hammer G. If the shuttle has not been properly boxed the end c passes on one side of the plate A and no change takes place. To provide more room for the cop change mechanism the picker K and its attendant parts are mounted at the back of the shuttle box.
