Abstract

367,843. Compound sheet material. DEHN, F. B., 103, Kingsway, London.- (Paraffine Cos., Inc. ; 475, Brannan Street, San Francisco, U.S.A.) Sept. 23, 1930, No. 28477. [Class ]40.] A flexible con pound sheet material for use as a wall or floor covering comprises a layer of felt 2 saturated with bituminous material such as petroleum asphalt, tar or pitch and provided on both sides with a layer of asphalt 3, a layer of paper 4, for example kraft paper, being secured to one of the asphalt layers. When. used as a wall covering the material is secured to the wall 6 by nails 7 with the paper outermost. Plaster nails carrying between their heads 8 and shoulders 9 wire netting or lathing 11 are then driven through the material, and wall plaster, such as lime plaster, plaster of Paris or stucco made of plaster of Paris and sand, is applied. The composite sheet may also be used as an insulating material in buildings and as an underlay for linoleum and rubber tile, to which the paper surface may be secured by adhesive.
