Abstract

366,783. Internallyfired hot-water boilers. WESTELIUS, A., 16, Karl X Gustafsgatan, and LINDSKOUG, B. E., 7, Fredsgatan, both in Hõlsingborg, Sweden. March 23, 1931, No. 8874. Convention date, March 22, 1930. [Class 64 (i).] An oil-fired boiler unit for use with hot water heating installations consists of a cylindrical vessel 1 divided into air and oil compartments 5, 12 and having a lid 17 on which the boiler is supported. The boiler consists of a shell of circular or rectangular section formed by plates 21, 22 and having inclined projecting portions 26 the upper surfaces of which are bent upwards from the centre to the sides to give more rapid water circulation, the shell having a cold water supply pipe 23 and a hot water withdrawal pipe 24 and insulation 25. The air compartment 5 is provided with an air pump 6 and with a pipe 9 which connects it with a valve 10 from which a pipe 38 extends to the top of the oil compartment 12. The oil burner 28 has vertical walls 35 arranged fanwise therein and a preheater 32 for the fuel connected through a pipe 31 and valve 15 with a pipe 14 which extends to the bottom of compartment 12. The fuel passes from preheater 32 through pipes 33, 34 to the burner. When starting up, air is supplied to the burner from valve 10 through pipe 30 and valve 29, this valve being shut to cut off the supply when the preheater 32 has become warm. The normal air supply to the burner is through holes 16 in the upper part of cylinder 1 and slots 18 in the lid 17, and is controlled by a disc 19 having slots corresponding to slots 18 and adapted to be turned by a handle 20. The boiler has a soot flap 36 and has an ignition hole, e.g. in the flap. Oil compartment 12 has a filling pipe 13.
