Abstract
365,855. Gyroscopic compasses. SPERRY GYROSCOPE CO., Inc., Manhattan Bridge Plaza, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Wittkuhns, B. A. ; 5, Garden Place, Chatham, New Jersey, U.S.A.) March 6, 1931, No. 7006. Convention date, March 6, 1930. Addition to 360,428. [Class 97 (iii).] The amplifier for amplifying the reversible phase output of a two-part controller 3, 4 of a gyroscopic compass for driving the followup motor 39 as described in the parent Specification is fed directly from the mains without the use of a rectifying device. The Figure shows parallel connected output valves 10, 11 with their anodes fed with alternating current in phase opposition and having a resistance 14 in the anode circuit from which grid biasing voltages and an anode voltage for the valve 6 are obtained. The anodes of the valves 10, 11 are connected through separate primary windings of a composite output transformer 40 having a single secondary. The input and power supply may be derived from two phases of a three phase supply, while the " Scott connection " shown places a symmetrical load on the supply. The output utilizes a similar connection for the motor, one phase of which is connected to the supply.
