Abstract
365,516. Indiarubber springs. CHRYSLER CORPORATION, 341, Massachusetts Avenue, Detroit, Michigan, U.S.A. Oct. 9, 1930, No. 30298. Convention date, Feb. 24. [Class 108 (iii).] In a rubber or like resilient connection between two relatively movable members 18, 16, Fig. 3, facing one another such as the engine support 12 and the frame of a motor vehicle, in which relatively non-resilient elements 30 are enclosed within the resilient connection 20 so that the mounting is resilient in directions parallel to the facing members and relatively rigid perpendicular thereto, the arrangement is such that during parallel movements the resilient connection 20 is subjected to tension or shear. The non- resilient members 30 comprise blocks embedded within the resilient members 20 which may be vulcanized to the opposed faces. The parts 20, 30 may both be of rubber having different degrees of elasticity. In a modified mounting shown in Fig. 5, a central non-resilient element 50 may extend right across the gap between the opposed members 36, while upper and lower non-resilient members 52 may extend only partly across the gap so that a small tilting movement is allowed in addition to parallel movements.
