Abstract
364,984. Insulation. MICAFIL AKT.- GES., Altstetten, Zurich, Switzerland. May 4, 1931, No. 13168. Convention date, May 5, 1930. [Class 36.] In order to prepare insulating form pieces of open profile cross section such as protective caps for high-tension windings of transformers, a paper strip b is wound on an annular mandrel a of rectangular cross section to form a paper ring c. The strip b unwinds from a spool d which, with its supporting ring f, revolves round the wrapping place, the winding mandrel a being rotated to provide a forward feed. The paper ring c with the mandrel a is taken from the ring f which is arranged to hinge open, and is placed on an annular matrix g, Fig. 2, of a pressing device. The paper ring c is cut open along a circular line, the edges of the cut are bent away and the mandrel a removed. An annular patrix i, Fig. 4, is placed over the ring c which is pressed to shape, for instance an angle or U.
