Abstract
364,911. Tyre pumps. KINSMAN, Ltd., Bond Street, Stirchley, and CHAPMAN, H. W., 207, Northfield Road, King's Norton, both in Birmingham. Feb. 21, 1931, No. 5544. [Class 8 (i).] A cylinder b open at its lower end to atmosphere, is reciprocated by a handle x over a valved piston i, j forming the head of a hollow pillar a constituting an air reservoir. The handle is formed of a pair of parallel grips shaped on a single square block ; a groove on its side carries the delivery pipe when not in use. The base of the pillar is formed with rigid or hinged lateral foot pieces, and a connection e for the flexible delivery pipe. A valved connection g allows a gauge to be fitted or the delivery pipe of a second pump simultaneously inflating the tyre ; a dummy g carries the cap .of the connection g<1> when not in use. The piston head is formed with valved inlet passages k and outlet passages l, m, the valves seating by gravity, and carries a cup leather packing q ; air enters and passes out by a central passage r; an annular cushion t prevents shock. A spring w carried by the lower end of the cylinder b cushions the up-. stroke. In a modification, air enters past a cup leather on the piston which has a single valve for outlet to the reservoir.
