Abstract

364,386. Electrically stunning animals. GASSNER, R., 28, Schonfeldstrasse, Munich, Germany. Feb. 12, 1931, No. 4464. [Class 5 (i).] An appliance for electrically stunning animals comprises -a head yoke having electrodes, the distance apart of which is regulatable, and which are adapted to be placed against the temples of the animals. A yoke 7 which may be suspended from a pulley, comprises arms 8 pendent from the shanks of hooks 18 which may be mounted resiliently or on swivels, and serve to hook the appliance to the horns of the animal. The arms 8 and hooks 18 are adjustable in slots 9 by rods pivoted to a crank disc having a handle 12 which comprises a spring- loaded pin, with release lever, co-operating with a series of holes 15 in a disc 11 or in the yoke 7. Springs connect the arms 8 to short arms fixed on the hook shanks. The arms 8 carry electrodes 16 having pins 17 of non-rusting steel or of platinum coated metal which may have rounded tips or may be in the form of tubular spikes with serrated tips. The electric circuit comprises a switch 6 on the yoke and a hand switch in series therewith. In a modification, Fig. 4, electrodes are resiliently supported on the arms of tongs.
