Abstract

363,072. Stop motions for ring spinning and doubling frames. RUSHTON, H., Davenport Street Works, and BARBER, H., Queen's Avenue, Hurdsfield Estate, both in Macclesfield, Cheshire. Nov. 5, 1930, No. 33213. [Class 120 (ii).] A stop motion for ring spinning and doubling frames of the type in which a detector wire or guide eye is supported on each thread, so that on breakage of the thread it falls and stops the feed rollers and the winding spindle of its particular head, comprises a plurality of detector thread guide a each mounted on the end of a rod A which is pivoted on a horizontal rod A<1> and which carries a depending finger a<1> bearing against a horizontal bar C, carried by arms c pivoted on the rod A<1>. One arm c carries a balance weight c<1> and the other a balance weight c<2>. A lever D is pivoted to a weighted catch E, pivoted on the bracket f, so that it lies in the path of rearward movement of the bar G. When a thread breaks its detector falls, and the corresponding finger a<1> moves the bar C which in turn moves the bar D into contact with a projection h on an oscillating lever H. The weighted catch E is accordingly tilted so that the projection g on the vertical rod G is disengaged from the notch e and the rod G moves vertically under the action of a spring to disengage the feed rollers, which are independently driven for each head and preferably have their axes at right-angles to the length of the frame, from their drive. The vertical movement of the rod G may stop the feed rollers according to the method described in Specification 363,073. The spindle is also stopped by a projection on the rod engaging a projection on the spindle and tilting the spindle out of contact with its driving belt and into contact with a braking surface. The rod G has a footstep to depress it against the action of the spring pressing it upwards to bring the members into position for restarting the machine.
