Abstract
362,986. Vehicle antidazzle screens. HURLOCK, W. A. E., 55, Effra Road, Brixton, London. Sept. 12, 1930, No. 27347. [Class 103 (ii).] An antidazzle device for protecting a vehicle driver from the effects of the sun or approaching headlights comprises two or more screen elements 6 of coloured celluloid or like material frictionally gripped by a clamp or other support 4 and secured thereto by a pin 7 about which the elements may pivot independently and be held frictionally in any adjusted position. As shown, two screen elements of approximately oblong shape are pivoted near one corner so that in one position, Fig. 2, convenient for protecting the driver's eye from a low sun, the longer edges of the elements may overlap at a, while in a second position, Fig. 1, the elements may form an obtuse angle and constitute a suitable protection from approaching and passing head-lights. Stops 4a may be provided on the clamp for limiting the pivotal movements of the elements. The clamp 4 may be mounted on the windscreen by means of a suction cup or, as shown, by means of articulated arms 2, the joints 3 of which are furnished with spring washers so that the arms are automatically retained in their adjusted positions.
