Abstract

362,868. Feeding conical rollers in uniform position. CINCINNATI GRINDERS, Inc., 3058, South Street, Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Binns, G. W.; 3555, Edwards Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, U.S.A.) June 2, 1930, No. 16980. Convention date, June 4, 1929. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. [Class 117.] In a selector mechanism for delivering work pieces such as conical rollers to a grinding machine, the work pieces pass successively from a hopper through a feed tube to a table from which they are rolled into a slot where they are suspended with the small end downwards while they are moved along the slot into alignment with a second feed tube. The feed of the blanks to the grinding throat is effected by a shaft driven from an electric motor operating, through links 18, 19, 28, an agitator tube 25. This tube rides over an inner feed tube 26 and serves to agitate the blanks contained in a hopper 22 and cause them to pass in a line down the feed tube which has a curved portion 30 terminating in an inclined table 31 on to which the blanks 13 are successively delivered, the forward movement of the blank being arrested by a stop 50. The blank is then moved laterally by a pusher 47 into a slot 33, the width of which is adjusted by a guide plate 35 so that the blank hangs vertically with the small end downwards, while it is moved along the slot by a second pusher 43 until it reaches a discharge opening 32 through which it drops into a feed tube 34 leading to the grinding throat. The pushers 47, 43 are both resiliently controlled by a cam lever pivoted at 39 and operated by a link 36 connected to a collar by the agitator tube. One end of the cam lever bears on the upper arm 42 of the pusher 43 and the other arm bears on a lug on an arm 45, actuating the pusher 47, the movements of the pushers in the operative direction being controlled by a spring 48 connecting the members 42, 45.
