[Class 12 (i).] In tilting block bearings, e.g. of the type described in Specification 290,637, [Class 12 (i), Bearings &c.], in which the blocks 2 are carried round with the shaft 3 by projections 8 on a ring 4, wear due to sliding at the pivotal points a, b is prevented by forming the faces 9, 9<1> and/or the opposing surfaces 12, 121 as arcs of circles with radius r, the centre of the circles being at the pivotal points a, b. In a modification the contacting faces 9, 91, 121, Fig. 4, are plane, the plane being perpendicular to a line drawn from the pivotal points to the centre of the said faces..
