[Class 146 (i).] The index strip or index sheet holder 1 described in the parent Specification is modified by replacing some or all of the horned lugs between the ends of the strip by plain lugs 5, 6. 7, Fig. 3, which function only to prevent the strips overlying one another. Alternatively, or in addition to the provision of the plain lugs 5, 6, 7, the horned lugs 9, 10 at the ends of the strip may be replaced by inturned tongues adapted to engage the holding ribbon. In one form, the inturned tongues may be secured to the strip proper by staples and in another arrangement, Fig. 5, the tongues 22 are passed through slits 21 in the strip 1 and are prevented by shoulders thereon from being accidentally withdrawn. Where plain intermediate lugs 5, 6, 7 are provided, the holding ribbon may extend the full width between the end lugs 9, 10. If intermediate ribbon are provided the lugs 5, 6, 7 are kinked slightly so as to lie between them.
