Abstract
358,805. Photographic shutters. KODAK, Ltd., Kodak House, Kingsway, London.-(Assignees of Riddell, W. A. ; 333, State Street, Rochester, New York, U.S.A.) Dec. 17, 1930, No. 38027. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1929. [Class 98 (i).] In a shutter having two slotted levers 31, 22 connected by an adjustable pin 33, one lever 31 being operatively connected with the retarding mechanism, the other 22 being actuated by a rotatable driving member 9, the act of setting the driving member also sets the lever 22 in such a manner that the retarding mechanism is only brought into play through the levers 22, 31 during a part of the return movement, after a preliminary lost motion of the driving member during which the blades are opened. A pin 12 on the driving member 9 engages a yoke-shaped end of the lever 22 which is pivoted at 23. The lever 31 is pivoted at 31a and has a segment 30 in gear with a wheel 43 operatively connected with the retarding mechanism. The yoke has curved portions 21, 24, and an intermediate notch or portion 25 which is engaged by the pin 12 on the return movement, after a lost motion along the concentric portion 24, during which the blades are opened. Different shapes are described for the yoke. The pin 33 is carried by a lever 36 on a rotatable member 39<1> set by gearing operated by the setting disc 42. The slot 34 in the lever 22 may be of variable width (reference being made to Specification 358,806 in this connection), with a view to varying automatically the lost motion and thereby making possible a wider spacing of the dial gradations for shorter exposures.
