Abstract

358,707. Fire-escapes. HILL, H. L., 5, Belsize Park Gardens, Hampstead, London. Sept. 26, 1930, No. 28828. [Class 47 (i).] A fire-escape device comprises a rope 4 and a star-shaped plate 1 which is formed with claws 2 and has secured to it a tubular pillar 3. The rope is passed through the pillar and knotted behind the plate. A conical bucket 5 is secured to the rope by ropes 6, and rubber grips 8 slide on the rope. The knot 4a of the rope may be protected by a cup or disc secured to the plate 1. In use, the plate 1 is placed, for example, at the angle of a window so that the rope hangs freely from the end of the pillar. Descent is then made by the bucket, or by the sliding grips 8. When not in use, the bucket is inverted over the plate, with the ropes coiled inside it.
