Abstract

358,181. Washing granular material; sifting-apparatus. HARDY, H., 107, Rue du Charbonnage, Anderlues, Belgium. July 30, 1930, No. 22920. Convention date, Nov. 30, 1929. Addition to 356,236, [Group XII]. [Classes 82 (ii) and 117.] In the process of forming coal particles of globular shape according to the parent Specification, the mass is cooled as soon as the globular condition is reached and schists or foreign matter are separated by means of a water bath, or by sieves or gratings. The cooled mass from the oven A falls into a vat C provided with agitating blades 6, 7. Floating coal is taken off by a bucket chain D and after rinsing on a sieve 9 is charged into the annular space surrounding the cooling chamber from which the dried coal passes to a mixer H and press T. In a dry method of separating the schists the mixture is passed on to a succession of either fixed or moving sieves and gratings of decreasing gauge (Fig. 2, not shown) the coal then being moistened, reheated, and pressed.
