Abstract

357,588. Sewing-machines. ARON, H., 55, Pall Mall, London.-(Maderna, L. ; 45, Viale Dante Alighieri, Novara, Italy.) June 25, 1930, No. 19340. [Class 112.] Linking-machines; stitches.-Edges of knit goods are united by a machine which forms a two-thread stitch, one thread forming a chain loop stitch and the other thread locking the chain loops. The machine has the usual ring of points clamped to a flange of the carrying ring against a copper bush. These points carry the edge loops of the knit fabric. The plate 17 carrying the mechanism can be adjusted to tilt at any angle about the ball pivot 16 at the base of the rod 15 carried by the bracket 14 of the standard 12. A point ring 21 with teeth 24 is mounted on the plate 17. A bracket 26 on the underside of the plate 17 carries a feed shaft gear wheel 27 engaging the teeth 24. The points 35 are forced against a soft copper clamping ring 34 by the ring 36. The actuating shaft 38 is carried by bearings on the upper surface of the plate 17, and has a hand-operating handle 41 for slow work, and a pulley 42 for a power drive. The shaft carries feed eccentric 50 engaging arms 52 to move the feed shaft 25 stop by step by the ratchet wheel 28. The needle-operating eccentric 56 is mounted next to the feed eccentric and is engaged by forks operating the slide bar 57 carrying the needle 62. The looper 68 carried by the push rod 72 is given a three-dimensional motion by the eccentrics 69, 70 72. The stitch is shown in Fig. 8, 90, 91 being the knit fabric edges, 66 the chain loop thread of the needle and 67a the locking thread of the looper.
