357,515. Roasting food materials. FORRESTER, H. J. C., 88, Chancery Lane, London. - (Kellogg Co. ; Porter Street, Battle Creek, Michigan, U.S.A.) May 17, 1930, No. 15260. [Class 58.] Cereal foods or similar products are toasted, crisped or puffed in a rotary oven mounted at its outlet end on a gudgeon 2 and at its intake end by a circular track 3 resting on rollers 4. The cylinder is rotated through pinion gear driven from a power shaft 8. The oven is heated by gas issuing from a stationary burner 9 in the upper part of the cylinder controlled by a valve 10. Waste gases escape through an outlet pipe 11. The oven is surrounded by insulating material 12 held in. place by a sheet metal cylinder 13. Bars 15 lift the material as it travels down the oven which is inclined to facilitate its progress to the outlet 17.
