Abstract
356,811. Constructional ironwork; tubular posts. AMERICAN TUBULAR ELEVATOR CO., 4700, 2nd Avenue, Pittsburg, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Schiller, M. B. ; 4700, 2nd Avenue, Pittsburg, U.S.A.) June 13, 1930, No. 18174. Convention date, July 25, 1929. [Classes 20 (i) and 20 (ii).] Tubular members for sectional tubular elevator towers are connected end to end by means of a surrounding sleeve 4, a bolt 6 passing through the sleeve and the upper end of the lower tubular member and serving also to connect the braces 12, 13, 14, and another bolt 11 passing through the sleeve between opposed portions of the abutting ends of the tubular members at right-angles to the previous bolt, and adapted also to connect bracing 15, 16, 17 disposed in a direction at rightangles to the previous bracing. Both the ends of the tubular members may be recessed to receive the cross bolt or only one may be so recessed. The upper tubular member is connected by a further cross bolt through the sleeve. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also comprises a reference to U.S.A. Specifications 1,641,801 and 1,676,161 ; these references do not appear in the Specification as accepted.
