Abstract

356,431. Plug couplings. WANDSWORTH ELECTRICAL MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., Kenyon Street, BATCHELOR T., 99, Phillimore Road, Washwood Heath, and SMITH, A. B., 85, Arden Road, Acocks Green, all in Birmingham. Aug. 15, 1930, Nos. 24440/30, 25096/30, and 2398/31. [Class 38 (i).] Electric switches, bell-pushes or plug-sockets are mounted as units on metal brackets which are adapted for mounting in a wall box or which may be combined together to form multiple units which may be mounted in a wall box. In the form shown in the Figure, a tumbler switch b is mounted, by means of two screws through the bridge, on a cruciform metal bracket a having arms a<2>, a<3>. On the sides of two of the arms are lugs a<4> on which are mounted fixed contacts b<3> of the switch b. The ends of the arms a2, a<3> are stepped slightly so that on being screwed to an adjoining unit or to a case the surface of the bracket a remains level. Plug-sockets c<2> are supported by a plate mounted underneath the bracket a and carried by the depending lugs a<6>. Holes a<7> are provided to facilitate wiring. The assembly when screwed together is mounted on a frame of channel section, the ends of the arms a2, a<3> being screwed to the smaller web of the channel irons. Gaps such as at j<4> are made so that the sections may be readily broken to make up frames of any size. In a modification the plug sockets are carried by separate brackets screwed directly to the bracket plate a.
