Abstract

322,262. British Power Railway Signal Co., Ltd., and Irving, E. C. Sept. 15, 1928. Plug couplings.- In a multi-colour electric light signal for railways and other traffic, means are provided for ensuring that the internal, or external, control wires can be connected only to the correct lamp or lamp terminal and that interchangeability is impossible. These means may consist of interengaging sockets and plugs of different shape, or plates with differently shaped holes to engage over correspondingly shaped terminal pins. In the form shown, a terminal board 5 for a four-aspect signal is provided with pairs of differently-shaped sockets 21, 24, 25, 26, adapted to receive correspondingly-shaped plugs 22. The sockets are preferably formed in metal inserts 27 which are embedded in the board 5 when the latter is being moulded from insulating material, and the plugs may be locked in position by means of screws 28.
