Abstract

356,263. Counting-apparatus. WILLEY & CO., Ltd., St. Thomas, Exeter, and SIMPSON, S., Meresyke, Exmouth, both in Devon. June 5, 1930, No. 17479. [Class 106 (i).] In a counter, par. ticularly for a gas meter, the units wheel is fixed to the spindle on which the other numeral wheels are loosely mounted, the spindle on the units wheel itself is actuated by a Geneva drive and transfer is effected by mutilated pinions the first of which is fixed to their common shaft. As shown applied to a meter the index shaft drives a shaft m on which is secured a locking wheel a and a driving wheel a<1> the teeth of which intermittently rotate a toothed wheel b<1> rigid with the numeral wheel spindle d<1>. An adjacent toothed wheel b co-operates with the locking wheel to hold the units wheel stationary between successive actuations. The transfer pinions n, o, p, &c., are of the usual alternately long and short teeth type and wheel n is fixed on the shaft n<1> to cause this to turn at each transfer from the units wheel. The driving wheel a<1> is shown as formed with two diametrically opposed toothed projections to move the units wheel through two spaces for each revolution of the index shaft j.
