355,491. Feed regulators for scutchers. PFERDMENGES, H., Giesenkirchen, near Rheydt, Germany. Aug. 11, 1930, No. 23981. Convention date, Aug. 26, 1929. [Class 120 (i).] In an automatic feed for a scutcher in which the speed of a feed roller c, Fig. 1, is regulated according to the thickness of the raw material band a pressing on a pedal b and shifting through levers d, d1, d2, d3, d<1>4, d4, d5 the belt fork e of a double cone drive g1, g2, a change in the specific gravity of the raw material is compensated for by altering the initial position of the belt-fork e by adjusting the length of the link d3; and to compensate for the change in the transmission ratio of the linkage so caused, the bearing point d<1>3, is simultaneously shifted. The lever arm d<1>4, Fig. 2, is bifurcated and slotted to carry a carriage l in which are mounted two spindles n1, n2. The spindle n1 can be turned by a hand-wheel q to move the carriage l in the slots k and at the same time turn the spindle n2 by bevel wheels o1, o2 and adjust the length of the link d3.
