[Class 142 (ii).] Each loom side frame 10, 11 comprises a web 15 lying substantially in a single plane with deep reinforcing ribs 16 extending inwards towards the other loom side. The cross girts 12, 14 spacing the looms sides are furnished with plates contacting with the inner edges or faces of the reinforcing ribs, which at these parts extend further towards the centre of the loom than the main parts of the reinforcing ribs. Spaced pads 53, 56, 61 on the smooth outer plane of the web receive castings supporting the loom operating parts ; thus bolts and nuts 42 situated in an accessible position on the outside of the loom frame secure to a pad 40 the foot 39 of a stand 38 supporting the pivot stud 37 of the picking lever 36, the strains caused by the picking motion which cause outward bowing of the loom sides, resulting in the strengthening reinforcing ribs being compressed so that the strains are efficiently resisted. An under-pick loom with drop boxes and with a magazine having its foot 50 supported by a pad 53, and equipped with a whip roll &c. is illustrated. Breast beams. As shown in Fig. 6, parts of the ribs are shaped to form pockets 24 to receive the shouldered down ends of a breast beam 13 extending between the loom sides, the pockets being closed at their front ends and open at their rear ends.
