[Class 44.] A dress suspender comprises an apertured plate 1, an actuating lever 4 pivoted at 21 and a pressure plate 2 pivoted at 5. The clip is closed by pulling over the lever 4 and the material is forced into the aperture 9 and clamped between the horizontal stepped portion 24 and the plate 1. The clamping pressure is provided by a spring 23 which when the clip is closed acts on the end 22 of the lever 4. In the open position the spring maintains the lever in the raised position and a stop 11 holds the plate 2 in the open position. The plate 2 and the lever 4 are stiffened by recesses and bent over portions.
