Abstract
353,820. Angular bending ; cupping. PRESSED STEEL CO. OF GREAT BRITAIN, Ltd., Cowley, and BUCKLE, H. L. T., Langsmead House, Wheatley, both in Oxfordshire. Dec. 23, 1930, No. 38743. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv).] Making radiators and parts of r o a d vehicles.- Metal stampings having a number of parts arranged at an angle to each other are formed from strip material by forming,depressions in the strip, bending it at these positions, and then stamping to the required form. Recesses 1, 2 are formed in one edge of the strip, the outer portions then being bent in two directions so that the portions 3, 4, 5, Fig. 3, lie in different planes each at approximately 45‹ to the plane containing their lower edges. The blank is placed in a press with similarly inclined faces 8, Fig. 5, cupping being effected by a member 7 after grippers 9 contact the work. The flanges formed are subsequently removed. The process is applicable to motor-car radiator shells, cowls, and scuttles.
