Abstract

Angular bending; stamping.-In a method of bending corrugated metal sheets across the corrugations, the corrugations on one side of the bend are reversed either before or during the bending so that concave portions on one side of the bend are in alinement with convex portions on the other side of the bend. In the form shown in Fig. 11, in which a single bend is effected, the convex and concave portions b, b<1> on one side of the bend become concave and convex portions c, c<1> on the other side of the bend. The bending is effected by hammers or dies in pressing-machines, and in the form shown in Fig. 11, the pressing-tool extends throughout its entire length as the corrugations are reversed throughout the whole length of the bent part. Two, three, or more bends may be effected in this way, and in the form shown in Figs. 3 and 4, in which four bends are effected, dies f, g, Figs. 13, 14, 15, simultaneously reverse the corrugations and bend the sheet, the corrugation x, y, being reversed at x<1>, x<2>, x<3>. In a double bend, as shown in Fig. 10, the portions b of the sheet are parallel to each other, with an intervening portion at rightangles thereto.
