Abstract

353,284. Stirrups. HELLSTEN, C. E., 3, Grensen, Oslo, Norway. Aug. 15, 1930, No. 24536. Convention date, Aug. 15, 1929. [Class 62.] In a safety stirrup, one branch 5 is adapted to swing about the tread 2 out of the plane of the stirrup and is normally held in position by a spring-pressed pin 9 projecting from the tread and engaging a notch 11. In one construction, Figs. 2 and 4, the pivot 3 is secured to the tread 2 and has studs 4 cooperating with grooves 7 and a circular recess 8 in the corresponding aperture in the branch 5 to prevent lateral movement. In a modification, Fig. 6, a pin 12 fixed to the branch 5 enters an aperture in the tread and is held by a small pin 13 engaging a circular groove.
