Abstract
353,218. Trays ; tables. LAURIE, W. J., Sunnyside, Rotchell Park, Dumfries. July 2, 1930, No. 20039. [Classes 52 (iii) and 128.] A stand or holder for drinking-vessels &c. for picnic use is provided with a spike movably attached to its underside so that it can be folded or turned into a projecting position in which it can be pushed into the ground. The holder consists of a circular metal tray 4 with an upstanding rim, or it may be of frusto-conical form with tongued walls to grip the vessel or in the form of a wire basket. The spike 5 is of tapered angle-section and has a hook 6 at its larger end. The hook 6 is held under a spring bridge-piece 8 having a loop 9. To fold the spike, the hook 6 is slid away from the centre of the holder and turned to lie in the loop 9, being retained by the shoulder 9a. The spike may be replaced by a pin attached to a spring hinge and may also be telescopic. The holder may be so shaped that a number of them may be nested together.
