[Classes 78 (iii) and 78 (iv).] An appliance for withdrawing pit props and the like has a gripping lever for engaging props of H or like cross section comprising a lever A to which the pulling chain D is attached at one end, the other end of the lever having a bent end B engaging one side of the prop and having a hook C pivoted thereto and engaging a flange of the prop.
