Abstract
352,244. Ball games. BOWSER, G., 9, Neville Road, Leicester. July 3, 1930, No. 20185. [Class 132 (ii).] A device for practising outdoor ball games, particularly golf, comprises an extensible member 1 consisting of a single piece of elastic material having hooks, loops, or eyes at each end for engagement directly with members inserted in the ground when in use, and an inextensible cord attached to the member 1, carrying a ball at its free end. The member 1 may comprise a core of rubber strands with a textile covering, Fig. 3, the end hooks 2 consisting of wire windings 2b ending in spring tongues 2a for detachable connection to ground pegs 3. The cord 6 connected to the ball by a tapered eye-screw is fastened at its other end to an eyelet 8 in a leather tab 5 slidably connected to the member 1 by eyelets 7. In play the member 1 is located, tensioned, just above the ground, and the ball teed slightly to the front or rear of the tab 5. If driven at right-angles to the member 1 the ball should return to approximately its former position.
