Abstract

212,378. Richardson, F. H. Feb. 12, 1923. Golf - practising appliances; tees. - A golf practice mat or tee of rubber, leather or other flexible material is secured to the ground at one end and bears a flat representation of a golf ball at the other. Guards are provided on the mat to prevent the dummy ball from being struck by the club. As shown, the mat 1, Fig. 1, is formed with raised edges 9, 10 enclosing a flat space 14. the open end of which is marked with a representation of a ball 15 and its shadow 16. The mat may be secured to the ground by a nail or peg passing through a hole 2. The mat should be so placed that the light falls upon it in the direction of the arrow, in which position no shadows are cast by the raised parts 9, 10. A disc 18, Fig. 7, carrying an upright 20 may be placed over the representation 15, the upright 20 being covered with colouring- matter to indicate the accuracy of the stroke on the face of the club. A tee 23, Fig. 8, may be attached to the mat by a cord 24 passing through a hole 25 in the raised edge 9 of the mat. According to the Provisional Specification, the device may be used for advertising purposes.
