Abstract
<PICT:0351594/IV/1> <PICT:0351594/IV/2> In dye beams of the type in which the yarn is wound on a perforated or slotted drum A, staves or rods B extending longitudinally between the end flanges A1 of the beam are provided to keep the yarn out of contact with the surface of the drum and thus obtain more even dyeing. In Fig. 1 two rods B, which may be of circular, oval, diamond, or other cross section are provided at intervals along their length with discs A2 serving as supports. In another arrangement the necessity for such support is obviated by making the rods lie close to the surface of the drum. In the form shown in Fig. 5 the staves B, each of which extends only a part of the length of the beam, are formed from sheet metal bent over along one edge, the other edge being fixed to the drum. The staves or rods may also be arranged to extend spirally between the end flanges of the beam. To enable the beams to be employed for warping, friction pulleys C may be bolted on or made integral with the ends of the beam to be rotated by frictional contact with the pulley of the warping drum.
