[Class 19.] A device for applying paint which is driven into the brush by air pressure comprises a brush 1, Fig. 3, connected by a line 2 to a paint reservoir 3 in the upper part of which is compressed air. The reservoir, portable or fixed, has a filling orifice 4 for paint and a pneumatic valve 6 for application of a pump. The brush has a wooden handle 7, Fig. 1, and a metal collar 8 in which bristles 9 are mounted. The handle is recessed to accommodate a rigid pipe 10 to which is connected a flexible pipe 11 protruding among the bristles. The pipe 10 is controlled by a spring slide valve 13 which is pressed inwards to allow paint to flow past a narrowed section 16. The pipes 10, 11 with valve 13 can slide relatively to the handle 7 by means of a recess 17 in the handle and metal sleeve 18. This enables the operator to withdraw the tube 11 more or less from the bristles against spring action 22. The sleeve can be locked by a pin 19, Fig. 2. The brush has a sliding sleeve 26, Fig. 3. surrounding the bristles so as to grip them and act as a drip collector.
