Abstract

The ageing of rubber and the like is retarded and the vulcanization of same is accelerated by the addition to the mix of alcohols of high molecular weight, e.g. fatty, waxy or cyclic alcohols. As an antiager the alcohols may be painted on to the vulcanized rubber. The alcohols mentioned are octodecyl alcohol and octadecenol alcohol.
