Abstract

350,121. Enamelling. BARRETT, N. G. and BARRETT, L. J., (trading as BARRETT, J. W.), 93, Spencer Street, Birmingham. April 5, 1930, No. 10834. [Class 56.] A cigarette case, powder-puff case, or other article has an ornamented part comprising a ribbed portion or base covered by fused vitreous enamel through which the ribs may be seen is so as to give to the part ornamented a ribbonlike appearance. The Figure shows the metal lid of a powderpuff case which is formed with a shallow recess 2 surrounded by a narrow raised edge 3. The recess 2 has its surface formed with a series of parallel transverse ribs 4 arranged close together. The enamel is applied to the ribbed portion in the form of a powder mixed with water to form a paste, and the article is then put into a muffle furnace to fuse the enamel. When finished, the lid appears to be covered with a ribbon having a ribbed texture. A regimental, club, or other badge may be attached to the lid.
