Abstract

349,704. Bunkers. BEYER, PEACOCK, & CO., Ltd., Gorton, Manchester, and JACKSON, S., 260, Bramhall Lane, Stockport, Cheshire. March 31, 1930. No. 10186. [Class 20 (i).] Fuel bunkers B for locomotives &c. are provided with movable flexible covers C having mechanism for drawing and withdrawing the cover. In the construction shown the cover, which may be of metal, wood, canvas, or other suitable material, is wound on a spring drum D enclosed in a box E and is operated by cords G wound on a drum H provided with a handle. The cover is formed with guide pieces sliding in guides F fixed to the bunker. Windows of xylonite or other transparent material may be fitted in the cover. The roller D may have balance weights and cords instead of a spring, or may be dispensed with. The housing for the cover may be provided with means for cleaning the surface of the cover during withdrawal.
