Abstract

348,875. Kettle &c. bottoms. BULPITT, W. S. and BULPITT & SONS, Ltd., Swansea Works, Camden Street, Birming- ham. May 13, 1930, No. 14667. [Class 66.] Kettles: or other cooking utensils, particularly those intended for heating by hot plates, are provided with metal bottoms of substantial thickness which are machined or ground truly flat. The bottoms are produced by turning up a rolled-blank in a lathe or by some method other than casting or die-pressing, so as to be free from internal stresses. Figs. 1, 2, and 4, 5, show respectively two methods by which the body portions 3 are attached by mechanically deforming the bottoms 1. Fig. 6 shows a body,part 12 attached within the flanged rim 11 of a bottom by brazing,or soldering at 13. The article may be annealed after, manufacture to assist the bottom to retain its flat surface. Specification 17453/13, [Class 66, Hollow-ware], is referred to.
