Abstract

348,216. Building materials. WEITZEL, R., 23, Avenue Duquesne, Paris. Feb. 15, 1930, No. 5093. Convention date, Feb. 22, 1929. Drawings to Specification. [Class 20 (ii).] Parts of telephone cabinets &c. are made by preparing a mould, coating it with a substance preventing adhesion and then with several coats of lacquer, paint, or sizing. These are then covered with a number of layers of cloth impregnated with a product adapted to harden in the air. For example, the inner surfaces of the mould are coated with lacquer and then with a size or a fatty substance, for example, linseed oil, a mixture of turpentine, gum resin, and a siccative. The surface of the mould is rubbed smooth and coated with silica jelly. Lacquer paint (largely acetate of cellulose dissolved in acetone) is sprayed on the mould, and there is then applied to the mould a layer of fine cloth prepared with cellulose varnish, or a coating of linseed oil, benzine, and gum. When this layer is dry, several layers of cloth are applied; these are previously coated with hardening-substances, such as plaster, cement, glue, &c. When the structure is dry, it is removed from the mould, and polished.
